Individualized Instruction

All 55-minute appointments are in-person and one-on-one. Academic tutoring (math, chemistry, physics) can even vary from week to week, and may even be for different family members. ACT or SAT Preparation should have a separate, specifically dedicated weekly meeting.

Background

After a few years working for a test prep company and then an academic tutoring company, Lance began tutoring independently, working with students from Whitefish Bay, Shorewood, Mequon, Nicolet, University School of Milwaukee, Marquette High School, DSHA, and others.

With over 20 years of tutoring experience, Lance has the knowledge and skills necessary to help students achieve their academic and standardized test goals. Subjects include math (calculus, precalc trigonometry, geometry, algebra), chemistry, physics, ACT and SAT.

How do meetings work?

All meetings are one-on-one and in person in Whitefish Bay. Meetings last for 55 minutes. The subject can vary according to the needs of the student, although ACT and SAT preparation should have a dedicated time.

How does payment work?

Payment, due at the time of the appointment, can be in check, cash, or credit card. Detailed payment instructions will be sent prior to the first appointment via the scheduling site at tutorlance.fullslate.com

Do you teach all sections of the ACT or SAT?

Yes. I prefer to teach all sections, as there is a definite benefit to a holistic approach. As distinct as the subjects may seem, there is a unifying thought process and it is good for students to learn this. For students who are happy with scores on certain sections, however, it is not necessary to work on every one.

What is your background?

I have a Master's Degree in Materials Engineering and a Bachelor's Degree in European History. In addition to 20-plus years of tutoring, all of my previous jobs (manufacturing supervisor, infantry officer) involved training and coaching. I graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point and received the Master's Degree while working and going to Milwaukee School of Engineering at night.
